Angela Elbert, a Partner at Neal Gerber & Eisenberg, Coalition Board member and co-chair of the Coalition Community Outreach Committee, was recently appointed to the Chicago Board of Step Up Women's Network. Step Up is a philanthropic partner of the Coalition and is a national, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to connecting and advancing women and girls. It serves as a bridge between communities of professional women and underserved teen girls through mentorship, networking and advancement. About the author: Mona Mehta Stone is an equity partner in the Litigation Department at Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell, where she represents both public and private entities throughout the country, ranging from individuals and small businesses to multibillion-dollar companies. Recently named one of the "Top 40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 To Watch", Mona has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation, employment disputes, insurance defense, and aviation defense. Mona is the first Indian-American promoted to partner at the firm, and she now serves as Co-Chair of the firm's National Diversity Committee. Mona is especially committed to the recruitment, retention and promotion of women and minority lawyers, and she is an active mentor and frequent speaker at law schools and panel discussions focusing on diversity and mentoring of young attorneys. Mona earned her J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 1997.
